1. The CPU Presents: "Prescription for a Healthier New York," Dr.
Jon Cohen, Democratic Candidate for Lieutenant Governor

Description: Dr. Cohen is a nationally recognized health care
executive who has published over 100 peer review articles, two
books and multiple book chapters. He is past president of both the
New York Surgical Society and the New York Society for
Cardiovascular Surgery and is a member of the nation's most
prestigious medical societies. He has been an active educator of
medical student, residents and faculty over the last 20 years. A
policy expert on local, state and national health policy, Dr. Cohen
is frequently asked to speak and consult on health care issues. He
was the Senior Healthcare Advisor to the Carl McCall for Governor
of New York State, 2002 campaign and to the Kerry/Edwards 2004
Presidential campaign.

2. The CPU Presents: "The Rebuilding of Lower Manhattan," Stefan
Pryor, President of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation
(LMDC)

Date: Tuesday, 12/6

Location: 555 Lerner Hall

Description: Stefan Pryor was appointed President of the Lower
Manhattan Development Corporation in May 2005. In that capacity, he
serves as the agency’s chief executive. As the first employee of the
LMDC, Pryor has helped lead the agency since its inception in
November of 2001. Formerly LMDC’s Senior Vice President for Policy
and Programs, Pryor served the agency's Chairman and President as
their top deputy.

A Lower Manhattan resident, Pryor previously served as a Vice
President at the Partnership for New York City, the citywide
business organization. At the Partnership, Pryor led the
organization’s public education efforts and served as Executive
Director of its main school reform program. After September 11th,
Pryor helped coordinate the Partnership’s efforts to get downtown
businesses up and running again. Pryor helped found ReStartCentral,
which provided donated and discounted goods and services
to 9/11-affected businesses.

Pryor previously worked in municipal government in New Haven,
Connecticut, where he served as policy advisor to the city’s mayor.
Pryor is a co-founder of Amistad Academy, an acclaimed New Haven
charter middle school that has recently been invited to replicate
in New York City. Amistad’s expansion organization, Achievement
First, will open schools in Brooklyn’s East New York and Crown
Heights neighborhoods this fall.
