1. The CPU Presents: Stefan Pryor, President of the LMDC
Date: Tuesday, 12/06

Description: Stefan Pryor was appointed President of the Lower
Manhattan Development Corporation in May 2005. In that capacity, he
serves as the agency’s chief executive. As the first employee of the
LMDC, Pryor has helped lead the agency since its inception in
November of 2001. Formerly LMDC’s Senior Vice President for Policy
and Programs, Pryor served the agency's Chairman and President as
their top deputy.
A Lower Manhattan resident, Pryor previously served as a Vice
President at the Partnership for New York City, the citywide
business organization. At the Partnership, Pryor led the
organization’s public education efforts and served as Executive
Director of its main school reform program. After September 11th,
Pryor helped coordinate the Partnership’s efforts to get downtown
businesses up and running again. Pryor helped found ReStart
Central, which provided donated and discounted goods and services
to 9/11-affected businesses.
Pryor previously worked in municipal government in New Haven,
Connecticut, where he served as policy advisor to the city’s mayor.
Pryor is a co-founder of Amistad Academy, an acclaimed New Haven
charter middle school that has recently been invited to replicate
in New York City. Amistad’s expansion organization, Achievement
First, will open schools in Brooklyn’s East New York and Crown
Heights neighborhoods this fall.

3. A screening of "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price"
Date: Tuesday, 11/29

Location: 304 Barnard Hall
Description: WAL-MART: THE HIGH COST OF LOW PRICE is a feature
length documentary that examines Wal-Mart's effect on families and
American values.
The film dives into the deeply personal stories and everyday lives
of families and communities affected by Wal-Mart. A working mother
is forced to turn to public assistance to provide healthcare for
her two small children. A Missouri family loses its business after
Wal-Mart is given over $2 million to open its doors down the road.
A mayor struggles to equip his first responders after Wal-Mart
pulls out and relocates just outside the city limits. A community
in California unites to oppose Wal-Mart, and wins.

4. Newsweek's Jonathan Alter on the CIA Leak Investigation

continuing CIA leak investigation. Following his address, there
will be a Q&A.
