Welcome to the Columbia Political Union!

Dear all,

My name is David Kim, and I am the General Manager of the Columbia
Political Union. On behalf of our organization, I'd like to
welcome you (back) to campus and wish you the best of luck in the
coming semester.

In the six years since our founding, the Columbia Political Union
has hosted an array of speakers, including Israeli Foreign Minister
Shimon Peres, former Vice President Al Gore, former Vermont Governor
Howard Dean, New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein, Senators
Rodham Clinton, John Edwards, George Mitchell, John McCain, Bill
Bradley, and Orrin Hatch, former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin,
and former presidential candidate Ralph Nader. We also frequently
host expert panels to explore issues as varied as the future of the
space program, campaign finance reform, the war on terror, media
bias, and faith-based initiatives.

The CPU also publishes a quarterly magazine of political commentary,
which you can access at http://www.columbia.edu/cu/cpu.
Additionally, we distribute thousands of non-partisan pamphlets
each year to educate the University community about salient
political issues.

I'd encourage you to visit our website (which is, admittedly, in the
midst of a major overhaul) and sign up for our weekly newsletter.
Please also stay tuned for upcoming Meet and Greet events, which
will give you a chance to meet the Executive Board and learn more
about our organization. Regrettably, a scheduling error has
prevented us from hosting a listed event during Orientation Week,
but look for our signs and posters around campus. We'll also be
hosting Meet and Greet events once the semester officially begins.
