CPU ANNOUNCEMENT: CPU Executive Committee Elections (Declare Now!)

1.  CPU Executive Committee Elections (Deadline for Declarations of Interest: Monday, 03/27)

On April 18th, the CPU will hold elections to elect its Executive Committee for 2006-07. 

If you are planning to run for an Executive position, or would like more information about the election process, please email David Kim, CPU General Manager, at dkim@cupolitics.org.  Candidates may run for any of the seven Executive Committee positions:

General Manager
Treasurer
Events Coordinator
Communications Coordinator
Publisher
Webmaster
CPR Editor-in-Chief

Candidates need not have prior experience with the Columbia Political Union.  For more information about the responsibilities of Executive Committee members, please refer to the CPU constitution: http://www.cupolitics.org/about/constitution/index.htmlDeclarations of interest must be received by 5pm on Monday, March 27th.

2. CPR Editorial Board Elections (Deadline for Declarations of Interest: Friday, 03/10)

The CPR Editorial Board is now accepting declarations of interest for the 2006-07 Board.  The deadline for declarations of interest is Friday, March 10th.  Open positions include:

Editor-in-Chief
Managing Editor
Senior Editor
Design Editor
Art Editor

The declaration form can be downloaded at www.columbiapoliticalreview.com. Send completed forms to cpureview@columbia.edu. A description of the application process is also on the website.

NOTE: Candidates for the Editor-in-Chief position, like other CPU Executive Committee Members, are elected by the Governing Board - not by the CPR Editorial Board.  Candidates for the EIC position must also send their declaration forms to David Kim, General Manager, at dkim@cupolitics.org.

3. Annual Student Lobby Trip to Congress (New Date: Wednesday, 04/05)

Let lawmakers know you care about student aid!

You are invited to take part in "DC Lobby Day 2006," a joint Columbia/Barnard-Cornell University student aid advocacy trip.

On Wednesday, April 5, a delegation of students will visit the offices of U.S. Senators and Representatives to talk about the importance of federal student aid.  The day includes a special briefing on higher education issues by CU alumni working in Congress.

Get a first hand look at the legislative process while helping build support for programs important to college students!

Our group will leave Columbia at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4 to travel by bus to Washington.  We return at the end of the next day. There is no cost to students; transportation, meals and lodging are provided.

Space is limited, so please RSVP as soon as possible.  Reservations can be made by returning the below information to nm14@columbia.edu.

4. CCSC Elections (Mandatory Information Sessions: Tuesday, 03/07 and Wednesday, 03/08)
