PBS' To the Contrary Seeking Interns
(This is a GREAT women's issue program and fabulous staff)

PBS' women's news analysis program, To the Contrary, is seeking
dedicated interns to assist with all aspects of production for our
Spring season. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone looking
to break into the business. You must be willing to commit to at
least 15 hours a week (during business hours), for at least four
months. Some knowledge of broadcast production is preferred, as is a
demonstrated interest in women's issues. Proficiency in Microsoft
Office, excellent telephone skills, and strong research and writing
skills are also a must. The internship is unpaid, but college credit
is available.

Interns are an integral part of our small, energetic staff. You can
expect to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of the production
cycle, in addition to performing the more typical administrative
intern tasks. Increasing responsibility is given with demonstrated
initiative. Typical intern responsibilities include, but are not
limited to the following:

Shot selection for packages
Generating story ideas
Research
Logging tapes/managing video library
Transcribing interviews
Digitizing video
Updating website
Dubbing and blacking tapes
Meeting needs of high-profile panelists
Securing b-roll from outside sources

SUMMER INTERNSHIPS - NATIONAL NETWORK TO END DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), a 501c4
membership organization representing state domestic violence
coalitions, is dedicated to creating a social, political and economic
environment in which violence against women no longer exists. Its
sister organization, the National Network to End Domestic Violence
Fund (NNEDV Fund), is a 501c3 organization dedicated to providing
public education, training, and technical assistance to maintain and
develop the professional expertise of advocates working to end
domestic violence. The NNEDV Fund strives to strengthen advocates as
organizers and activists in the tradition of social change movements.

Spring and Summer Interns are needed immediately in every department t
provide hands-on assistance in our efforts.

Public Policy - participate in every level of the federal legislative

process and work at the national level to end domestic violence.
Public Policy interns work as partners in the Public Policy team, and
are given substantive duties including:

* Monitoring and analyzing legislation
* Participating in lobby visits and strategy sessions with NNEDV
staff and coalition partners
* Developing materials to inform Members of Congress and state
domestic violence coalitions about critical issues
* Helping to write Congressional testimony and draft legislation
* Participating in grassroots organizing efforts
* Attending Congressional hearings, briefings and press conferences
Communications and Development - contribute to building a proactive,
effective media shop from the ground up and assist with efforts to
support valuable programming. Communications and Development interns
work hand-in-hand with the Communications team in:

* Crafting short-and-long term communications plans for the
organization and state domestic violence coalitions
* Developing branding materials
* Overhauling the organization's website to provide additional tools
for state domestic violence coalitions
* Assisting with media relationship building
* Monitoring and analyzing media coverage about domestic violence
* Researching and pursuing funding opportunities for groundbreaking
advocacy projects
Program - share in creating superior programs designed to meet the
unique needs of state domestic violence coalitions. Program interns
will work directly with Program team in:
* Liaising with state affiliates
* Assisting with conference planning
* Fulfilling requests for information
* Preparing resources for state affiliates
* Facilitating requests for the Direct Assistance program

General Internship Requirements:
Interested applicants must demonstrate:
* The ability to work independently in a fast-paced office, under
tight deadlines;

* A commitment to ending domestic violence;
* Understanding of and commitment to diversity issues;
* Excellent written and oral communications skills;
* A good sense of humor; and
* Experience working with victims of domestic violence or on state or
federal policy a plus.
In addition, the Public Policy team requires applicants to
demonstrate an interest in learning about the national public policy-
making process.
Interest in economic justice issues, housing, or the federal budget a
plus.
Communications and Development applicants must demonstrate excellent
research, time-management and organizational skills and the capacity
to think quickly and strategically.

NNEDV and NNEDV Fund are accepting applications for the SPRING
semester until the positions are filled. Applications for SUMMER
positions are due March 1, 2005. NNEDV and NNEDV Fund will continue
to accept applications on a rolling basis for future consideration.

CONKLINSCOTT INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

National Democratic consulting firm seeks two unpaid part-time interns
to work in a campaign-style environment. ConklinScott works with
progressive 527s, national party committees, and other organizations
with a special emphasis on labor relations. Responsibilities may
include research, fundraising, special project assistance, and general
office administration, amongst other things. This is a great
opportunity for someone willing to work hard and learn the ins and
outs of national Democratic politics in a rapid-paced office.
Professional office experience and political experience/knowledge

NARAL Pro-Choice America intern

NARAL Pro-Choice America is looking for a committed and responsible
pro-choice individual for the Communications/Choice Action Network
(CAN) Intern position for Spring 2005.

Position description:

The Communications/Choice Action Network (CAN) Intern will support
the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Choice Action
Network database. Through CAN, pro-choice Americans around the
country receive updates and information about local and national
NARAL Pro-Choice America events, and ways to take action regarding
choice-related legislation.

This internship is an excellent opportunity to learn about online
advocacy, a grassroots organizing tool very important to political
work.

The intern will be responsible for:
. Data entering new CAN sign ups and updating databases.
. Assisting with responding to inquiries from CAN members.
. Compiling website statistics.
. Assisting with reports on the Choice Action Network by tracking
alert performance and subscriber action rates.

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, organized and possess
strong computer and people skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and
Excel is a must. The intern should have a strong interest in
political advocacy and reproductive rights work.

This is a paid position for Spring 2005. Preference will be given to
candidates who can make a full time commitment, but applicants with
part-time availability are encouraged to apply. Start and end dates
are flexible but the intern must make a commitment of at least 2
months.
