Business and Finance Director for the Columbia Political Review

The Columbia Political Review is recruiting a Business and Finance Director. The B&F Director will be responsible for tracking and increasing revenues, and managing billing and payments. In addition, the B&F Director will be responsible for designing a marketing and circulation strategy for the publication. Experience with the business side of publications is a plus, as is any sales or marketing experience. Please contact Paul for more details.

Technical Director, Executive Board Member

The Technical Director is a full-fledged member of the CPU Executive Board and will be responsible for performing both position-specific duties as well as general duties expected of all board members, such as attending weekly board meetings and voting on all board decisions. Principal responsibilities of the position include managing the website and e-mail system, taking photos and videos of all our events, and maintaining our listserv. As the webmaster of the Political Union’s website, the Director will have creative control in designing the site's layout and operation. This also requires posting upcoming and past events, speaker bios, minutes, newsletters, and publications to the website on a regular basis. Additionally, the Technical Director also serves as the Web Editor of the Political Review and posts each issue of the CPR online. A basic understanding of UNIX, HTML, PHP, and MySQL is helpful but not required from the outset. Contact Alastair Shearman at ashearman@cupolitics.org for more information on how to apply.

Events Deputies and Committee Members
Events Coordinator: Lauren Linakis, llinakis@cupolitics.org

The Events Committee is in need of five deputies. Events deputies assist the Events Coordinator with tasks including, but not limited to: drafting and sending invitations to potential speakers; organizing expert panels and debates; corresponding with invitees' offices and advance staff; working with Columbia administrators to plan event logistics; and various other aspects of event staging.  Deputies will have the opportunity to meet and work closely with our guests. Communications Deputies and Committee Members

The Director of Communications is seeking four deputies this year. Communications deputies will be responsible for publicizing CPU’s activities and publications, writing press releases to both on and off campus media outlets, and building relationships among CPU and other campus organizations. Deputies will be largely focused on maintaining and enhancing CPU’s presence through flyers, co-sponsorships, and media work. Good writing and communications skills are necessary for those applying. We are also in need of deputies with graphic design abilities. Please contact Amanda for more information.

Deputy Publishers

The Publisher is seeking 2 new deputies. Deputies will research, write, and distribute the CPU voter’s guide for the November midterm elections in addition to our bimonthly issue updates on politically-relevant topics. The voter’s guide and issue updates are distributed campus-wide in an effort to bring nonpartisan, well-researched information on politics to the Columbia community.
